AMAZING PROPHECY in the BOOK of EZEKIEL
Another Amazing Prophecy Proving that the Bible is the Word of God is found in the Book of Ezekiel. The following Prophecy which you are about to read was written over 500 years before the time of Christ and Accurately foretells the very year that Israel would be restored to their homeland and once again become an independent Nation free from foreign rule more than 2000 years later.
Ezekiel 4:3 Moreover take thou unto thee an iron pan, and set it for a wall of iron between thee and the city: and set thy face against it, and it shall be besieged, and thou shalt lay siege against it. This shall be a sign to the house of Israel.
4 Lie thou also upon thy left side, and lay the iniquity of the house of Israel upon it: according to the number of the days that thou shalt lie upon it thou shalt bear their iniquity.
5 For I have laid upon thee the years of their iniquity, according to the number of the days, three hundred and ninety days: so shalt thou bear the iniquity of the house of Israel.
6 And when thou hast accomplished them, lie again on thy right side, and thou shalt bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days: I have appointed thee each day for a year.
This prophecy took place during Israel's captivity in the land of Babylon.
There are three things to note about this Prophecy.
It would be a Sign to the House of Israel.
Each day represents one Biblical Year.
Israel would be Punished for a period of 430 years ( 390 plus 40 )
Jeremiah had previously declared that Babylon would Dominate the Jews for Seventy years
Jer 25:11 And this whole land shall be a desolation, and an astonishment; and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.
Babylon conquered the Jews in 606 BC and their Dominance of the Jews ended Exactly 70 years later in 536 BC just as Jeremiah had Prophesied.
From the time that Babylon conquered the Jews in 606 BC, Jerusalem and the Jews remained under Foreign rule and lost their independence as a Nation for over 2000 years until 1948 when they Miraculously became an independent Nation once again.
Going back to Ezekiel's prophecy of a 430 year punishment, the Jews had experienced 70 years of punishment under Babylon which leaves 360 years remaining.
360 years after the Babylonian domination, the Jews still remained under foreign rule.
The Key to understanding the fulfillment of this prophecy is found in the book of Leviticus
Le 26:17 And I will set my face against you, and ye shall be slain before your enemies: they that hate you shall reign over you; and ye shall flee when none pursueth you.
18 And if ye will not yet for all this hearken unto me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins.
Le 26:23 And if ye will not be reformed by me by these things, but will walk contrary unto me;
24 Then will I also walk contrary unto you, and will punish you yet seven times for your sins.
Le 26:27 And if ye will not for all this hearken unto me, but walk contrary unto me;
28 Then I will walk contrary unto you also in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins.
After the 70 years of Babylonian domination, a minority of the Jews returned to the land of Israel and the rest remained in the Pagan Persian Empire where they had been born. From reading the books of Ezra and Nehemiah in the Old Testament we can see that the Jews did not repent of their sins after their 70 year punishment.
Because of the Jews failure to repent after 70 years, the remaining 360 years of punishment was multiplied by 7.
This means that the Jews would remain under foreign rule for another 2,520 Biblical years from the end of the 70 year Babylonian domination, which was 536 B.C.
The ancient Hebrew Calendar was based on a 360 day, not a 365 day year like we have today. The Hebrew year was made up of 12 months, each having 30 days. This meant a 360 day year.
This means that 2,520 Biblical years = 907,200 days
To convert this number to our calendar we divide 907,200 days by 365.25(the amount of days in our solar year) 907,200 / 365.25 = 2,483.8 years (according to our calendar)
If we calculate forward 2,483.8 years from 536 B.C. We arrive at the year 1948.
It was on May 15th 1948 that the Nation of Israel was re-established and were free from foreign rule for the first time since 606 B.C
